Laura Mendoza founded Great Roots in 2022 to provide consultation for native landscape projects, with a special focus on shoreline restoration, helping property owners control erosion and increase biodiversity. Her projects are community-driven; family and friends get together to learn and assist with the installation.
Kristie is on the board of the Whitefish Area Property Owners Association (WAPOA), and has been involved in Mary's project from the start, and is involved in other projects on the Whitefish Chain.
Merry grew up in Minnesota. She spent 2 years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Peru. Merry worked for the city of Minneapolis for many years. The property where she does this work is on the Whitefish Chain of Lakes in Crow Wing County. This is a family property purchased in the 1940s. Merry began this work of shoreline restoration in 2020 and plans to continue!
